Frequently Asked Questions
Cost, timing, service area, safety, and how it works — straight answers about mobile EV charging with RESQVOLT.
What is RESQVOLT?
RESQVOLT is a mobile EV charging service. Instead of you driving to a charging station, a technician drives a charging setup to you, wherever your car already is: home, work, a parking lot, or the side of the highway. We’re based in Joplin, Missouri, and serve Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas.
How does mobile EV charging actually work?
A technician arrives in a vehicle carrying a generator and a Level 2 charger, plugs into your car the same way a home charger would, and delivers real charge on-site. You can track the technician’s location and ETA before they arrive, then watch the charging session in real time once they’re plugged in.
How much does it cost?
It depends on the trip. A quick charge close to Joplin typically starts in the low hundreds of dollars, and the price rises from there based on how far we have to drive and how much energy you need, especially for a full charge farther out in our service area. You’ll always see the full price before you pay, and nothing gets added afterward.
What actually changes the price?
Three things move the number: distance from our base in Joplin, how much energy you need delivered, and timing (an emergency dispatch costs more than a visit booked in advance). For emergencies, we also show you a few charging options side by side, from quickest and cheapest to a full charge. See the next question for how that works.
What are the different charging options for an emergency call?
For emergency calls, we show you four options side by side. Just enough gets you the quickest, cheapest charge that safely reaches a real fast charger. Recommended and Full confidence add a bit more buffer, one step at a time, for when you’d rather not cut it close. Full charge fills your battery the rest of the way on-site, if that’s what you want. Recommended is picked by default because it covers most situations well, but you can pick any of the other three instead, right up until you pay. Every option shows its price and time on-site, before you choose.
How long does a visit take?
The quickest emergency option works out to under two hours from request to done, including the technician’s drive to you. That number comes from the same math that builds your quote, so you’ll see your own exact estimate before you commit. A full charge on-site takes longer: on-site charging runs at roughly the speed of a home Level 2 charger, so charging a battery from empty can take several hours once the technician is plugged in.
Is it safe to charge in the rain?
Yes. The charging equipment we use is weatherproof-rated and built for outdoor use, and the connector itself is the same standard plug used at public charging stations everywhere, rain or shine. The one thing that pauses a job is lightning or genuinely severe weather, where we’ll hold off briefly for the technician’s safety and explain what’s happening rather than leave you wondering.
What vehicles can you charge?
Any EV that charges over the standard J1772 connector, which covers almost every electric vehicle sold in North America, including CCS1 cars and older Nissan Leaf models. Tesla and other NACS vehicles are charged using a certified adapter, so if your car plugs in anywhere for AC charging, we can charge it.
What’s your service area?
We’re based in Joplin, Missouri, and our standard service radius runs roughly 200 miles out, covering Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas: including Springfield, Carthage, and Branson in Missouri; Pittsburg and Fort Scott in Kansas; Tulsa, Miami, and Bartlesville in Oklahoma; and Fayetteville, Bentonville, and Fort Smith in Arkansas. Longer trips beyond that radius are handled case by case for genuine emergencies or business contracts.
How far will you travel?
Pretty far, if that’s what it takes. Standard service reaches about 150 miles from Joplin, and we quote trips out to about 200. A trip that far costs more, since it takes more drive time and fuel, and the farthest trips carry a flat long-distance line of their own, because a run like that takes up a technician’s entire day. Every one of those costs appears in your quote before you pay; nothing about distance is ever added after the fact. Past about 200 miles we don’t auto-quote: reach out and we’ll look at it case by case.
I’m in Tulsa, Springfield, or Northwest Arkansas. Do you cover me?
Yes. Tulsa, Springfield, and the Fayetteville and Bentonville area in Northwest Arkansas all fall within our standard 200-mile radius from Joplin. Request a charge the same way anyone else would, at resqvolt.com, and you’ll get a quote that reflects the actual distance from our base.
Do you handle both emergencies and scheduled charging?
Both. If you’re stranded with a dead or critically low battery, we dispatch as an emergency call. If you just don’t have charging at home, or you’d rather not sit at a public station, you can book a visit in advance for a convenient time and place instead.
Are you available 24/7?
Not yet, and we’d rather give you our real hours than a promise we can’t keep. Emergency dispatch currently runs from Thursday at 10am straight through Saturday night. Outside those hours you can still send a request or book a scheduled visit, any hour of any day, and we’ll take it up the moment service opens; your card is never charged until a quote is approved and the work is done.
Do you replace towing?
No, and we want to be upfront about that. We solve one specific problem: a car that’s fine mechanically but ran out of charge. If your car has a mechanical issue or was in an accident, you’ll still need a tow. If a technician arrives and finds it’s not actually a dead battery, they’ll tell you honestly instead of trying to charge a car that needs a different kind of help.
I live in an apartment and don’t have a home charger. Can you still help?
Yes. This is one of the main reasons people use us. If you don’t have a garage, a driveway charger, or permission from your landlord to install one, we can charge your car on a regular schedule wherever you park, no home charging setup required.
Can you charge multiple vehicles at once, like on a dealership lot?
Not at the same time. We bring one charger per visit, so vehicles on your lot get charged back-to-back in a single trip, each tracked as its own job so you can watch progress on every one. Simultaneous charging is something we’re planning for as we add equipment. Dealerships still get their own account and invoiced billing rather than a one-off checkout.
Do you work with businesses or fleets?
Yes. Beyond one-off dealership visits, we set up standing accounts for property managers, corporate campuses, and other recurring arrangements: a scheduled charging window on whatever cadence makes sense for the account. Reach out through resqvolt.com to talk through what you need.
Is this a subscription, or do I pay per visit?
For individual drivers, it’s pay-per-visit: no subscription, no membership fee, no account required. Businesses and recurring accounts can set up standing arrangements with invoiced billing instead of a one-time charge per visit.
How do I request a charge?
Go to resqvolt.com and fill out a short form: where you are, what you’re driving, roughly how much charge you need, and whether it’s an emergency. No login or password needed for an individual request.
Do I need to create an account?
No account is required for a one-time or emergency request: a text or email link is all that connects you to your job. Anyone can create an account if they’d like one, though. It’s handy for repeat charges, saved vehicles, and quick access to your history and receipts. Dealerships and other business accounts get the same login, plus invoiced billing.
What happens while I’m waiting for the technician?
You’ll see a live map with the technician’s real location, plus an ETA they give you as soon as they head your way. There’s a chat option too, for whenever a quick message beats a phone call. If you flagged your request as an emergency, you’ll also see nearby places to wait comfortably: coffee shops, restrooms, that kind of thing.
Can I track the technician in real time?
Yes. From the moment a technician is on the way, you get a live map with their real location and distance from you. The ETA is the one they give you when they head out, and chat is right there if you need to reach them directly.
What payment methods do you accept?
Card payment, handled by Stripe; we never see or store your full card number. Accepting a quote places a hold on your card rather than charging it. The single, final charge happens after the work is done, and it is the lower of the amount you approved and what the session actually came to.
Is RESQVOLT the same thing as a public charging station?
No. We don’t have a fixed location you drive to. We’re mobile, so we come to your car instead. Think of us as the opposite of a charging station: instead of finding one, you don’t have to.
Does cold weather affect the service?
Cold weather affects EV batteries in general: range drops and charging slows in freezing temperatures, the same as with any EV. It doesn’t stop us from coming to you. If anything, cold snaps are exactly when a service like this matters most, because winter is when EV range runs out fastest.
Is RESQVOLT like AAA, but for electric cars?
Not exactly, but we solve a piece of what a roadside network might otherwise send someone out for. If your EV is stranded because it ran out of charge, you can request us directly, without a membership, and we bring the fix (a real charge) instead of a tow truck.
What if I need more than a charge, like a mechanical repair?
That’s outside what we do. We charge EVs that are otherwise fine. If a technician finds a mechanical issue instead of a dead battery, they’ll tell you plainly and you’ll want to arrange a tow or a repair shop instead.
Will I see the full price breakdown before I pay?
Yes. Every quote breaks out each line, dispatch, distance, fuel, on-site time, and more, before you approve anything. For the full plain-English explanation of how every line works, see How Our Pricing Works.
What happens if my charge finishes early or runs long?
Finish early and you’re automatically charged less than the amount you approved. Run long, for any reason, and you’re never charged more than what you originally agreed to. The full detail on how that works is on our pricing page.
Do you charge more the farther away I am?
Distance is priced fairly and predictably, including on longer trips: extra distance beyond a certain point is billed gradually in small steps, so going a little farther never suddenly re-prices the whole trip. See How Our Pricing Works for exactly how that works.
