How Our Pricing Works

Every quote shows every line, down to the cent, before you decide anything. At the end, you see one button, “Agree & pay,” with the exact amount already worked out, and that’s the number you approve, never a surprise total after the fact. If your charge finishes early, you don’t have to ask for anything back: you’re automatically charged less than the amount you were quoted. Nothing here is a policy buried in fine print. It’s just how the system works.

Accepting a quote places a hold on your card, not a charge. The one final charge happens after your session ends, and it is the lower of the amount you approved and the amount the session actually came to.

What’s in a quote

A quote isn’t one number. It’s several honest, separately explained pieces:

  • Dispatch fee. Flat, and it covers booking your request and getting a technician moving toward you.
  • Distance. Priced per mile once you’re past a short included radius near our base. On the rare trip that goes unusually far, an extra distance charge phases in gradually, band by band, the same way tax brackets work: crossing into a new band only changes the rate on the miles inside that band. Mile 121 never re-prices the whole trip. Trips past about 150 miles also carry a flat long-distance line, because a run that far takes up a technician’s whole day. It’s shown in your quote like everything else, never added after. Past about 200 miles we don’t auto-quote at all: call us and we’ll price it person to person.
  • Fuel, on both ends of the trip. Priced using the real, current local fuel cost, both for the drive out and back and for the generator running your charge, rather than one number that goes stale.
  • Time on-site. Shown right next to the price on every option, not something you have to dig for, because how long you’ll be standing there matters as much as the total.
  • Comfort. Already included. Running your AC or heat while you wait is built into every emergency quote, both the price and the time, so you’re never choosing between staying comfortable and keeping the cost down.
  • Emergency response. A premium for the drop-everything nature of an emergency call: a technician stops what they’re doing and rolls to you ahead of anything scheduled. It’s shown as its own line, never folded into anything else.

Choosing how much charge you want

When it’s an emergency, you’re never handed one number and told to take it or leave it. You get four real choices, side by side, each showing its price and its time on-site together:

  • Just enough gets you safely to a real charger, with the least time on-site and the lowest price of the four.
  • Recommended builds in a bit more room, for traffic, running the AC or heat, or a battery that reads a little lower than expected. It’s the one selected for you by default, though you’re free to pick any of the others.
  • Full confidence is one step further than Recommended, for anyone who’d rather not think about their battery again for the rest of the trip.
  • Full charge leaves you with a completely full battery. It costs more and takes longer to sit through, and your quote says so plainly, right on the card.

Need more once you’re already charging?

If you end up needing more than you first asked for, one tap mid-session adds more, in a few preset amounts. The fairness rule behind that button isn’t just a policy, it’s built into the price itself: topping up never costs more per kWh than what your original quote already worked out to. Whatever rate you started at is the most you’ll ever pay per kWh, even if you come back for more.

Tips are optional

Once your charge is done, you’ll see the final total and, if you’d like, a spot to add a tip: a few preset amounts, your own amount, or none at all. It’s genuinely optional: nothing is pre-selected and nothing assumes you owe more than what you already approved. Skipping it takes one tap, same as leaving one.

Common questions

Why not just tow it instead?

Towing’s a real option, and sometimes it’s the right one, but most EVs need a flatbed since towing on the wheels can damage the drive system, and your car still arrives at 0% needing a charger anyway. We come straight to you instead: charging starts the moment we arrive, tow waits often run an hour or more before you’re even moving, and our price is fixed and explained upfront rather than adding up after the fact.

Do prices change based on fuel prices?

Yes, a little, and on purpose. Fuel is priced using the real, current local fuel cost on both ends of the trip, where we’re based and where you are, rather than one fixed number that goes stale. It’s a small piece of a much bigger quote, and you’ll always see it broken out as its own line, not folded into anything else.

What if it takes longer than quoted?

That’s on us, not you. If a session runs longer than expected for any reason, you’re never charged more than the amount you originally approved. Run short, and you pay less automatically. Run long, and the price stays exactly what you agreed to.
